MEF at 10th European Regional ILO meeting and IOE meeting

At the invitation of International Labor Organization (ILO) and International Organization of Employers, a Head of International Affairs Department, Mirza Muleskovic, attended a 10th European Regional Meeting of the ILO and an IOE meeting in Istanbul, Turkey.

The regional meeting of the ILO takes place once in 4 years and gathers representatives of national governments, employers and workers from 51 country of the region. Topics discussed at this year’s meeting were: access to labor market of migration workers, asylum seekers and refugees, workers’ protection and the role of social policy in managing multinational companies. A report submitted to the meeting was the ILO General Director’s: What future for decent work in Europe and Central Asia: Opportunities and Challenges. The meeting adopted The Istanbul Initiative for the Centenary: Future for Decent Work for strong and responsible social partnership in Europe and Central Asia that provides clear guidelines to social partners for their future activities and scopes of actions.

In his speech, Mirza pointed out that the most important thing for Montenegro is to additionally work on strengthening and stabilization of regulatory framework, strengthening of social dialogue (at both tripartite and bipartite level) as well as on creation of adequate business environment that will enable sustainable businesses and be stimulating for existing and new business. He invited ILO to provide expertise in further strengthening the capacities of social partners and Montenegro EU accession processes.

Muleskovic then took part in the annual IOE meeting, where as a panelist he presented MEF study on enabling business environment for sustainable enterprises in Montenegro. European partners showed great interest in providing support to MEF to prepare Montenegrin businesses for entering European single market.
