At its session that took place today at wine cellar Sipcanik in Podgorica, MEF Assembly has voted confidence to Ivan Mitrovic, the former president of MEF Assembly. By unanimous decision of MEF Assembly delegates Ivan Mitrovic has been assigned a new four-year term at the position of President of MEF Assembly.
Within the working part of the Assembly session, in line with the Agenda, MEF Secretary General, Suzana Radulovic, presented the Report on activities realised in 2015 together with the Financial report for the same period, while the MEF President, Svetlana Vuksanovic introduced the delegates to the MEF Work plan for 2016.
With regards to the contents of presented material, the Assembly delegates unanimously adopted: the Report on activities realised in 2015, the Financial report for 2015 and the Work plan for 2016.
In continuation, MEF President, Svetlana Vuksanovic introduced the delegates to the contents of a new MEF document „A Charter on Good Governance of MEF“, created in cooperation with International Labour Organization (ILO) providing clear guidance to MEF Executive Board on how to take proactive role in governing MEF. As pointed out by Ms Vuksanovic, the importance of the Charter is especially reflected in the fact that it may be used by all interested companies (regardless their size or sector affiliation) which is the sort of MEF support to their businesses and sustainable development in the long run.
MEF leaders emphasized that the main objective of an entire MEF work in the coming period would be directed towards companies' economic growth. The precondition for realization of such a goal that MEF will strive to is the reduction of the existing business barriers at national and local level, the improvement of regulatory framework, and the increase of legal security for businesses. In that regard, the Assembly delegates were introduced to the contents of three new strategic documents of MEF that would soon be published and presented to Montenegrin public. The reports on the corruption in Montenegro, on the access to financial services and on the education and labour market mismatch would be a continuation of MEF efforts aimed at elimination of key business barriers that in MEF document 5 Business Killers were recognized as crucial obstacles to enabling environment for sustainable enterprises in Montenegro.
Business community led by MEF expects the Government to establish a stable legislative and regulatory framework, to provide a good impact analysis of new and amended legal acts prior to their adoption, to avoid poor interpretation of laws, to substantially improve the assessment of legislation economic impact, and to timely consult MEF when creating or amending regulation that directly or indirectly influence companies' operations. Strategic and proactive approach of the state should be dedicated to creating conditions for attractive and encouraging business environment. Only then we can discuss competitiveness, employment growth and economic development of the country that is oriented towards attracting investments and boosting exports.
Once the working part of the session was over, the delegates attended a cocktail organized by MEF.
