MEF at EC conference on labor market reforms

A Conference “Labor Market Reforms in the Western Balkans and Turkey” took place in Budva on October 2-3, organized by European Commission. This two-day event hosted Government and social partners’ representatives from the region as well as the representatives of ILO, ETF, OSCE and other international organizations. Montenegrin delegation consisted of the minister of labor, the director of the Employment Agency as well as the representatives of MEF, UFTUM and CTUM.

MEF Legal Affairs Adviser, Filip Lazovic was one of the panelists discussing undeclared work and informal economy pointing out to a number of challenges faced by employers and Montenegrin economy in general.

The event in Budva was an excellent opportunity for the exchange of experiences and comparative practices existing in each of the participating countries. Moreover, numerous presentations of experts related to labor relations and labor markets gave a detailed overview of the state of affairs in the region, in each of the country, with special emphasis put on current challenges and those that can arise on the EU accession path. Ultimately, participants agreed that a successful social partnership model proved an efficient response to problems and challenges which are inevitable in the accession phase.
